Cairn Mobile Print: Any device, anywhere, anytime


As of Summer 2013, Cairn students, faculty and staff have the capability to print from anywhere from any device including mobile devices to the Cairn Canon multifunction devices. 

There are two methods to print remotely from any device anywhere:

  1. Via mobile print by sending an email to
  2. Via webprint by going to

Method 1: Send your Print Job as an Attachment from Any Device (easiest)

With this method you can send an attachment from any computer, smartphone, tablet or any mobile device, you can print from anywhere at Cairn. Basically the way it works is that you send the document as an attachment to and then using your Cairn ID, you can release the print job in the Masland Library or computer labs (for the students) or at any Canon multifunction devices (for employees).

In order for this to work, all three conditions below must be met.

  1. The file you want to print must be in the form of an attachment of common file formats such as Word, PDF, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
  2. The attachment must be sent to just like you send any emails to anyone (with an attachment).
  3. The email must be addressed be sent from you account. Employees must use their employee email.

Detailed directions

  1. Login to your Cairn Gmail account ( for students and (employees)
  2. Address the email to
  3. Add the attachment document that you want to print and press Send.
  4. Go to one of the Canon multifunction printers or print release stations and scan your Cairn card.
  5. Release the print job by selecting the print job (from the print release stations) or under Secure Print (at the Canon Multifunction devices)
  6. And now you are done.

Other notes

  • You must use your own Cairn account to release the print jobs.
  • After 72 hours the print job will be deleted from the queue if it is not released.

Method 2: Uploading your Files via Webprint:

  1. Go to
  2. Enter your Cairn username and password and click login
  3. Click Choose File and select the file you would like to print
  4. Select the Only B/W if you do not want to be charged for color
  5. Choose your print options and select Submit
  6. Go to a print release station or any of the Canon multifunction devices and release the print job to the desired printer
